Supposedly they smoked pot with Prince Charles before the ceremony.

I am convinced they were delighted to meet Her Majesty and the Duke.

Is there a reason why you think that Yahoo users would know the answer to that question? They either spoke about the matter of they did not and, if they have never aired their views in public, how could we know what they thought?

The Beetles were pleased to have been honored by the people who chose them to receive the MBE. Meeting the Queen and Philip may not have been an overly joyful experience for some of the Beetles, but they were still pleased to have been pegged for the meetings since it meant that they, the Beetles, had a positive influence in British culture.

Paul probably was. He certainly did his level best -- and spent years working on it -- to get a knighthood. He was a nice, middle-class boy, planning to be a teacher when he became a Beatle instead.
Whatever anyone claims, most people are not going to be insulted by, bored by, or just uninterested in receiving a major national honor and in meeting the head of state or government. Normally, the HoS or HoG (hmm -- unfortunate acronym) would really have to be a problem (like little Donnie in the US at the moment) for someone to refuse to meet him or her or in order to refuse an honor or, simply, congratulations after a performance.

I’m sure they must have been. They likely played it down to look cool but I’m sure inside they would’ve been excited.

Joy unlimited without doubt. You do realise that the Beatles probably met at least HM more than once - they'd have been in the line up at any event they appeared in, eg the London Paladium.

They met her several times. Paul wrote three songs that reference the Queen so is undoubtedly a fan.
They were reportedly high when they received their MBEs so probably overlyjoyed on that occasion.
