SO, ANYONE WITH THAT NAME COULD BE A VERY, VERY DISTANT RELATIVE OF MOZART'S, RIGHT? OR WRONG?

(I THINK ONE OTHER VARIATION OF THIS NAME IS SALTZMAN.)

I think it is important to understand that everyone is related to everyone else. For instance Queen Victoria died 108 years ago, and she had over 1000 descendants. Everyone is at least 5th cousins or closer in the family tree.

-------------

Mozart died 110 years earlier. I don't know how many descendants he has, but there could be thousands of descendants. However, His grandfather would have even more. If you go back several generations you have even more.

---------------

Everyone in Europe is probably a 40th cousin or closer (the actual number may be even smaller). The estimate of all of the people in Britain, there is a 99% probability that they have Kind Edward III in their family tree. King Edward ruled through the black death in the 14th century.

You're right that it's silly. "Salzmann", and its variant spellings, means "salt miner/seller" and has nothing to do with the city of Salzburg. Rock salt was mined in Salzburg, which means "salt town", but it was mined in a lot of other places in Austria and Germany, and there's no reason to suppose that Salzmanns came from Salzburg. Even if they did, Salzburg was a big town and not everyone in it was related - and the Mozart family weren't native to Salzburg anyway! Mozart's father Leopold came from Augsburg in Germany.

Nope.

First, not a royalty question by a long shot!

second...Salz is German for salt.

Burg means town.

Salzburg means town of salt, or town where salt is mined. Lots of salt mines near there.

Salzman/Salsman, mean man (who mines) salt. There were TONNNNNNS of salt miners throughout central Europe.

And, yeah. Saltzman is another...my best friend's name.

Salzman was a jewish occupational name for a salt producer or seller, from German Salz ‘salt’ + Mann ‘man’. Respelling of the German surname Salzmann.

This surname has nothing to do with Mozart and your question has nothing to do with Royalty.

most of my jobs I have ever worked at required me to get over things that scare me , or that I disgust. I figure I have to have a job, what better way than to find one to get over your fears. I washed dogs for like 3 months, scary thing is, is I was super scared of all dogs but my own when I accepted the job, love all dogs now. I currently am a server, and I HATE germs, I dont use public restrooms, they are crawling with them, but I love my job, and I am constantly playing with others peoples chewed up food and messing with germs, I figure I can wash my self up with soap and water. I used to be really afraid of all the germ things, the jobs helped me realize a shower and lots of soap gets rid of a LOT of things. The whole getting over my phobias( which most people wouldn't attempt) has actually helped me a lot, do a lot more things that I wouldnt have b4 And yes, germs still freak me out!

Anyone COULD BE, regardless of their name. Note of interest for you: Do you know what W.A. Mozart is currently doing? Decomposing.
