I think Queen Elizabeth has a lot of life left to live....she is healthy and has announced her intention to continue as Queen until she dies. Little by little, Charles has assumed some of her duties as age has slowed her down....but she remains active, alert as ever, and in complete control of all her remarkable capabilities.

If Prince Charles outlives her, and the UK retain the monarchy, then, yes, Prince Charles will be the next King.

Queen Victoria lived to be very old, and as a result her son was very old by the time he became King. But he did become the King and the people greatly loved him during his short reign.

I'm glad that the rights of succession are firmly established and that Charles will become the King. That will give William and his wife ample time to have some time to themselves, to have some privacy while they have their children, to spend time with their children, and to enjoy some time without all the responsibilities of the throne taking all of that away.

Charles will make a wonderful King.....all of his adult life, he has been tireless in his efforts to make better the lives of "small people". The Prince's Trust has given out millions of pounds to help people set up small businesses. The revitilization project in the Duchy of Cornwall has given thousands of people living in rural areas new jobs and incomes which were disappearing from their area....just as they have disappeared throughout rural areas all over the world.

He is one of the most generous personal philanthropists in the UK....and will continue his efforts during his reign to try to help the people in his realm.

I think it depends on how much longer the Queen rules. If she was to step down or die now I think Charles would be king as I think William is too young but if she were to go on for say another ten years William would be nearly forty (Charles would be in his early 70's) and I think the situation would be different then.

I don't think the Queen wants Charles to become king as she knows he is unpopular. Hopefully the crown will go straight to William and he will probably be a more modern king like the Danish royals. The thought of a queen camilla is abhorrent to most people!

It is the rules of sucession that Prince Charles will be king. The monarchy is not an x factor contest. And I believe Prince Charles has some very good qualities to be the sovereign

Prince Charles has too much baggage.

William has her mother's charms, he is handsome, calm, seems to have enormous common sense and is hugely likeable. And so is Kathy I think.

Camilla on the contrary, she's hated. All over the world.

Charles is ... well, Charles is just Charles. Unlucky guy. He comes across as someone who just wants to be left alone.

No, I don't think he will ever be king.

not immediately, he must be created Prince of Wales yet interior the form of Charles predeceasing his mom it somewhat is in all probability that William would be created Prince of Wales interior of a incredibly short era (Charles became not created Prince of Wales till he'd been inheritor to the throne for 5 years or so and became not formally invested till he became 20 - inspite of the undeniable fact that, the investiture isn't a necessity).

It is set in stone...Prince Charles is the next

heir. If he dies before becoming the King, then

it will fall to Prince William as the next heir.

And Prince Charles will not give up his right

to become His Majesty !

his mother's accession as Queen Elizabeth II, immediately made him the heir apparent to the then seven countries over which she now reigned. He was ipso facto elevated to the rank of Duke of Cornwall (by a charter of King Edward III that gave said title to the sovereign's eldest son), and, in the Scottish peerage, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles, and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland. and now, Prince of Wales

his throne if he wants it, and i can't see him giving it up..

His ego says he will take the throne once Elizabeth II dies. If he had any brains he'd abdicate in favor of William. But he doesn't have any.
