The author of a biography of Queen Victoria claimed that the queen spoke English with a German accent, given that her mother and her governess were German.

Of course, there is no video clip of Queen Victoria's speaking voice to substantiate the author's claim that she spoke English with a German accent.

Victoria spoke with a British accent tinged with German inflection; certain words highlighted the German inflection. Her son, Edward VII, spoke with a British accent, tinged with the German guttural "R."

You learn something new every day. It is a wonder that George V didn't speak with an accent as his mother was Danish and if Edward VII spoke with an accent he would have picked it up from them.
