Well ya know all I gotta say is that it seems the Equality we dreamed of has not become reality because people like Jesse Jackson are still whinning about how the Whites need to give the Blacks everything.

Blacks do have more opportunities than they use to.

A Black Teacher I use to have actually had an impact on my opposition to Affirmative Action.

He commented that he felt that if a White person and Black person applies for a job it is wrong to hire the Black person for being Black (especially if the White person is more qualified).

It's kinda like if White person and Black person applied for a job it would be wrong to hire the White person for being White (especially if the Black person was more qualified).

It's kinda like when it comes to Elections I look at abilities of a person over top of race.

For instance a Black man who is running for Senate in my State has my support but in 2002 I voted for the White person who ran for Attorney General instead of his opponent who was Black.

But seriously we do need to start thinking of persons as individuals rather than having things based on Race.

I think I agree with the first answer. There will always be descrimination in one form or another. The crimes we have today are the same as they are in the bible. Race, religion, social and financial standings will always remain barriers between people or groups of people. For the majority, the country has become equalized and that there is no need for advancing ppl based on skin, religion, social connections, or material possessions. We all need to learn to value ourselves as prosperous individuals with the capabilities to learn, grow internally, and prosper.

The thing that I think is really great about the black race is that there seems to be a unity and a common connection among its members. White folks don't have that.
