Question:
Whom is one's favourite member of the House of Windsor?

One has been ruminating and cogitating on the matter all day. There are so many wonderful people to choose from:

HRH Prince Charles: Dear Charles, a wonderful lifelong friend. He stayed loyal to me throughout my bit of bother. He has had to put up with so much adversity in life, especially when one thinks of what that Spencer woman did to him. One looks forward to the day when he is crowned King.

Queen Elizabeth II: Our wonderful Queen and monarch, an example to us all. So much stamina in the woman, she still has such a busy workload yet deals with it with effortless aplomb.

HRH Prince Andrew: What a cad! In the nicest sense of the word of course! Both he and Koo Stark paid me a visit once to my island. Wonderful Koo, we had quite a raucous time when Andrew passed out from too much vino one night. Never liked the Ferguson woman, too common for my liking.

HRH Princess Anne: What a jolly filly she is! I can tell you, she is an absolute pleasure to be around, especially after some liquid refreshments.

HRH Prince Edward: The least said, the better.

HRH Prince Philip: An absolute rogue, our gracious Queen has had to put up with so much resulting from his indiscreet peccadilloes.

Upon mature reflection I should like to give the award of 'Favourite member of the House of Windsor' to our spritely Queen Mother. 108 years old and still going strong. Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale her infinite variety. Step forward ma'am. I salute you!
Your ever-loyal and gracious servant, Lucan.

The family name of the king at the start of World War I was Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, that being the family name of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband. It was slightly embarrassing for the family name to be German when the UK was fighting Germany, but no matter... we can't help history. What really made it look stupid was when it became known, three years into the war, that Germany was using a bomber called the Gotha IV. And that's why King George V proclaimed the change of name to Windsor three whole years after the war started. Windsor was chosen because of its royal associations and it being so obviously thoroughly British. Windsor is a small town in Berkshire, just west of the Greater London boundary, and the site of the royals' favourite home, Windsor Castle. It's a lovely little town like so many others in England, just with the addition of a whacking great castle towering over it! When the Queen is in London, she always spends weekends there, and when interviewed, her children all say they prefer it there. When Queen Victoria was in her long years of mourning, she lived there virtually full-time when she wasn't at Balmoral, hardly using Buckingham Palace at all. So "Windsor" was a fairly obvious choice.

The Duke of Edinburgh is my favorite member of the Royal Family...

The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (Philippos of Greece and Denmark; born 10 June 1921) is the husband of Queen Elizabeth II since 20 November 1947, and her consort since 6 February 1952. Philip was originally a royal prince of Greece and Denmark, and thus a member of the Danish-German House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, but renounced these titles shortly before his marriage and adopted the surname of his maternal grandparents, to become known as Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten. On the day before Philip was married, he was granted the style of His Royal Highness by King George VI and, the next day, was made Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth and Baron Greenwich. Queen Elizabeth made Philip a Prince of the United Kingdom in 1957.

As consort to the widely travelled Queen and Head of the Commonwealth, Philip has frequently been in the public eye, and is an established public figure in the Commonwealth realms. He is "Britain's longest-serving consort" and the oldest serving partner of a reigning monarch. Certain comments in the public sphere have gained the Prince a reputation for making controversial remarks. In addition to his royal duties, the Duke of Edinburgh is also the patron of many organisations, including The Duke of Edinburgh's Award and the Universities of Cambridge and Edinburgh. In particular, he has devoted himself, since visiting the Southern Antarctic Islands in 1956, to raising public awareness of the relationship between humanity and the environment. He has published and spoken widely for over half a century on this subject.

My most favorite is Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She is near about indescribable. Her sense of duty mixed with her sense of grace is a perfect example of how monarchy should be.

Second would be His Majesty King George VI. As I have said and will say again, he was so very humble.

And actually I do not look forward to the day HRH Prince Charles is crowned King. I do hope that Her Majesty will surpass Prince Charles and give the throne to Prince William. And "That Spencer" woman was the victim. Prince Charles committed adultery against her not she against him. She only started dating other people AFTER the two separated.

One wonders how one can get along in this world, without knowing the difference between a subject pronoun and an object pronoun, especially a person of such presumed esteem as yourself.

Andrew. Hands down. Always kind of felt a kinship to him.

It might be a wee bit difficult for the Queen Mum to step forward, or backward for that matter.

Queen Mother is dead. I have a friend who is a friend of Prince Edward, and it's well known he is gay - which is fine, too bad he has to hide it. He was at the Queen Mother's funeral so yes, she really is dead. The monarchy is fine for Britain as long as everyone does their job well. It's better than having a President that is worshipped. I like heads of State better. The only one I gave a toss for was Diana, Princess of Wales and what she did for the monarchy and it's evident in her son William. She may have gone about it the wrong way but how do you prepare for a job like that, she was so young. Her husband loved some else for heaven's sake, it messes with a young woman's head and she put up with it for years. Plus Diana had more British royal blood in her than the Windsors.

I say old chap, where are you ?

I thought you were dead Lucky

I thought you went overboard a cross channel ferry - but then again you've been sighted in South Africa and poor old Stonehouse was arrested in Australia in mistake for you.

Did the Shand - Kydds wallpaper over you ?

Perhaps the Aspinall tigers ate you.

My favorite live member would be HRH Prince Charles. His bumbling personality never fails to amuse me.

My favorite member dead or living is Edward, Duke of Windsor. I think it was incredibly romantic that he gave up his throne to marry Wallis.
