If Her Majesty lived another 10 years and remained as monarch, then it would be an unprecedented 70 years. You are right, this would be known as a Platinum anniversary. She would be 96 years old, so it is possible.

A 70th Jubilee would definitely platinum. Hm would be 96 and since her mother lived until 101 it's not an inconceivable idea. However, it is likely that by that age a lot of the day to day business of Head of State would have been handed over to other members of the Royal family (e.g The Prince of Wales and Princess Royal already carry out some investitures. Once The Duke of Cambridge has a base in London he is likely to carry out more Royal duties as well).

It's the Platinum Jubilee on her 70th year of reign. But maybe there will be a special celebration on the 10th of September 2015 as she would the longest-reigning British monarch on that day. On 26 May 2024 she would be longest-reigning European monarch.

After the Jubilee will be a summer of quiet and calm, broken by the Olympics.
