You mean Mad King Ludwig? He was the last king of Bavaria. He was gay and known for the many castles h e liked to build. He was a big lover of the composer, Waggoner. It has been speculated that he murdered his personal psychiatrist in a murder/suicide. More recent evidence suggests that he was actually murdered along with his psychiatrist for witnessing it.

Ludwig Friedrich Wilhelm II, King of Bavaria (August 25, 1845 – June 13, 1886) was king of Bavaria from 1864 until shortly before his death. He is sometimes referred to as the Swan King in English and der Märchenkö*** (the Fairy tale King) in German.
Ludwig is also often referred to as Mad King Ludwig, though the accuracy of that label has been disputed. Because Ludwig was deposed on grounds of mental illness, and died a day later under mysterious circumstances, questions of his madness remain controversial.
Ludwig is best known as an eccentric whose legacy is intertwined with the history of art and architecture, as he commissioned the construction of several extravagant fantasy castles (the most famous being Neuschwanstein) and was a devoted patron of the composer Richard Wagner.

Ludwig is German for Louis.
Probably referring to some king from a German kingdom. There were many.
Are you, perhaps, referring to Crazy King Ludwig (III? I think?) of Bavaria?
He's the guy who built that gorgeous castle that is used in so many films, and posters, etc...it's called Neuschwanstein. It's in Füssen, near Munich. He's also the guy responsible for Oktoberfest. Both are tied to a woman...he built the castle for a woman he loved (like the Taj Mahal) and Oktoberfest began as a celebration of his wedding...I'm not sure if they were the same woman or not.
No. He was Ludwig II.
