King Edward VIII question: King or Duke?

I'm a little confused. When Edward VIII abdicated, he was still King Edward VIII since no other person can assume that title, so why was he not HM King Edward like Constantine and Anne-Marie of Greece are still known (in this country at least) as King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie.

He abdicated and was therefore NOT king afterwards. His Majesty's Declaration of Abdication Act 1936 said so. Edward was then given the title of Duke of Windsor as a kind of consolation prize, and became HRH the Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor. Constantine is universally known as Ex-King Constantine, and can be that as nobody was king after him as Greece became a republic.
